About Institution

M.O.P. Vaishnav College for women is committed to the goals of attracting and supporting top calibre women students in the areas of higher education. Since its inception in 1992, the college has recorded a phenomenal and continual growth. The college has been reaccredited by NAAC with an ‘A++’ grade. The college has the distinction of being one of the youngest colleges in the country to have been granted autonomy by the University Grants Commission and the University of Madras.

About the Department

The Department of Computer Science began its journey with the course, B.Sc. Computer Science in the year 1994. In 1999, Bachelors in Computer Application (B.C.A) course was started. The Department also offers the Post Graduate course, M.Sc. Information Technology since 2003. Currently, the department continues to excel with 13 staff members and student strength of over 350. The department is celebrating its silver jubilee this academic year. The USP of the department has been 'Formulation and application of computational approaches to sculpt next generation computerprofessionals.'

    The department also offers industry enriched courses as skill programmes. Workshops and seminars on trending topics are organized by the department on regular basis to enable the students to update their knowledge and meet the industry expectations. The department has achieved more than 90% placement in the last few years and some of the reputed companies that visited MOP include Deloitte, Cognizant, E&Y, Goldman Sachs, Infosys, Capgemini, RBS, Wipro etc.The department recognizes the meritorious students and rewards them through various endowments and also offers scholarships. About International Conference Commemorating the silver jubilee year of the Department of Computer Science, the Department has planned series of events like Web-a-thon, Computer fair and its fourth International Conference ICCCMIT – 2019. Three International conferences ICCCMIT – 2012, 2014, and 2017 were organized by the department which served as a platform to discuss, share and disseminate innovative and pioneering views on recent trends and development in Communication, Computing and Information Technologies.

    About ICCCMIT

    The First International Conference on Communication, Computing and Information Technology – ICCCMIT 2012 was held on 21st and 22nd of December 2012. 550 delegates representing 55 colleges from different countries attended the conference. The Department of Computer Science in association with NASSCOM, IEEE and IJCA organized the conference. The selected papers were published in the International Journal of Computer Applications (IJCA). ICCCMIT 2014 The Second International Conference on Communication, Computing and Information Technology – ICCCMIT 2014 was held on 12th and 13th December 2014 commemorating the 10 years of autonomy of M.O.P. Vaishnav College in association with Scopus Indexed International Journals and the Media Partner ‘The New Indian Express’. Nearly 410 delegates attended the conference. 29 selected papers were published in EBSCO indexed International journal of Computer Applications (IJCA). 11 Best extended version of the research paper were published in SCOPUS indexed International Journal JCOMSS. Eminent and erudite International speakers from academia and industry were part of the conference. ICCCMIT 2017 The Third International Conference on Communication, Computing and Information Technology – ICCCMIT 2017 was held on 3rd and 4th February 2017 as part of the silver jubilee celebrations of the college in association with Journal of Internet Commerce, T&F Journal of Society Systems, Inderscience. The conference featured original research and industrial papers on theory, design and implementation of latest technologies together with Project Expo. 400 delegates attended the conference and best papers were published in International Journal.

    ICCCMIT 2019

    The Department of Computer Science department in its Silver Jubilee year organizes its fourth International conference on Communication, Computing and Information Technology – ICCCMIT 2019 on 15th and 16th February 2019. The conference expects to open the gateway and ease the path for leading academics, active researchers and industry leaders to communicate and exchange their viewpoints on developments in recent research. It provides a networking and collaboration opportunity for all participants. Eminent speakers across the globe will be addressing the technological advances and research ideas in the fields of Communication, Computing and Information Technology. The conference invites research papers focussing on the theory, design and implementation of emerging technologies. All registered papers will be published in UGC listed Journal. Best extended version of registered papers will be considered for possible publication in the SCIE and SCOPUS indexed International Journals.
